MISS WORLD 2008 CELEBRATES ITS 58TH ANNIVERSARY
THE CELEBRATIONS END IN SOUTH AFRICA WITH THE ANNNOUNCEMENT OF THE PAGEANT
The Miss World title celebrated its 58th anniversary for the popularity and the fame that it had received in these years at Sandston Conventional Centre in Johannesburg in South Africa.

The Miss World has by far become the best and the most popular title contest for female beauty pageants giving us with the best of the actresses in the Bollywood as well as the Hollywood with the recent winner of the Miss World title, Ksenia Sukhinova who won the title against 108 other strong contenders of the position. The Miss World competition was held on the 13th of December, 2008 with various finalists, semi finalists and the runner ups given to Parvathy Omanakuttan from India and Gabrielle Walcott from Trinidad and Tobago. Along with the beauty pageant of the Miss World there were some more competitions held before this to choose the finalists and the semi finalists by the Miss World Beach Beauty, Miss World Top Model, Miss World Sports, Miss World Talent and the award for the Best World Dress Designer.

There was a special award for each one so that no one went away with dissatisfaction in the heart and a grudge against the judges. With Judges, it reminds about the judges who were the ever so charming Julia Morley who is the Chairman as well as the CEO of the Miss World Ltd along with the so graceful Wilnelia Merced who had been the Miss World in the year 1975. To accompany them both, there were also Aminurta Kang who is a director of Theatre stage in China and North America, Krish Naidoo who is the brand ambassador for Miss World beauty pageant, Pearl Luthuli who is a part of the Group executive public commercial services SABC, Lindiwe Mahlangu who is the Chief executive of the Johannesburg Tourism Company and Moloi-Motsepe who is the Chairperson of African Fashion International with Graham Cooke who is the President of World Travel.

The Miss World, 2008 came up with many countries that had left participating in this contest like the country of Seychelles that was seen in the year 1999, Antigua & Barbuda was seen in the year 2004 along with Egypt and Honduras also in the same year. These are just the small list of them. The whole thing is too huge but any ways it is a matter of proud that these countries came back to participate in the Miss World and made it an unforgettable memory that had been revived with their presence.
Along with these countries who did the dare to get back and compete there were also various countries who did not participate this year for whom the wait had been done for a long time with the expectation that they would get back but sadly no news was received. These Countries were: Estonia, FYRO, Romania, Slovenia and Macedonia decided to give up as they did not have the investment amount whereas Panama’s participant did not get the visa to South Africa, Suriname was not allowed in the participation for undisclosed reasons and Nepal could not take part due to certain problems prevailing in the country. Each had their own set of reasons for their lack of appearance and withdrawal.

The award for Miss World, 2008 has been crowned to the beauty pageant Ksenia Sukhinova from Russia at the Sandton Conventional Centre in South Africa on 58th Miss World contest.

The Runner Ups
The Indian participant Parvathy Omanakuttan was left behind by an inch’s distance and lost the opportunity to be called one amongst Aishwarya Rai, Lara Dutta, Diya Mirza, Priyanka Chopra and many more. Nevertheless, she was a strong holder as she was the first runner up in the Miss World pageant. She was chosen as the semi finalist with 107 other participants and from them, she was again selected for the 15 finalists. Ksenia Sukhinov was awarded with the crown and the tag by the former Miss World Zhang Ziin according to whom nothing is more important to her than the people with whom she is living and says that she has the capability perform ant task for their good, even which if, is taking the crown away and never giving it back. The Miss World contest that had taken place in South Africa not only included beauty tests but also those to test the brains of the beauties. Thus, the judges apart from having the modeling, ramp walking, swimsuit competitions and interviews, also organized for competitions like the creation of a boat, football kicks, working towards the charity by each of them, showing their talents etc to count a few.

About Her: Kseniya lives with her parents in the Tyumen region, which is situated in the north west of Siberia. She is currently studying for a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineer of Administration, her ambition is also to become a Supermodel. Her leisure and sporting interests are: swimming; mountain skiing; roller skating; badminton; gym; rhythm gymnastics; pop & dance music; reading Russian classic literature; favourite food is: Japanese and Italian. Kseniya`s personal motto is: `Respect people around you, and people will respect you`.

Ksenia’s Dreams and Desires
The Russian queen apart from wishing to meet the President of her home country named “Dmitri Medvedev” also wants to make her way easy to the super modeling. The girl is day by day become the most talked about female after making it through to the Miss World title for her such a young age of 21 years with the height of 5 feet 10 inches. She has had a good background being born in Nizhnevartovsk in the North side of Siberia in Russia.

The Achiever’s Column
The girl has got many other achievements apart as she has also won the title to the Miss Russia in the previous year of 2007 on the 14th of December, 2008 in Moscow and there she competed and won amongst 50 more participants, she was a runner up in the Miss World Beach Beauty contest of the year 2008, was the Miss World Top Model with which she was sent to the competition of the Miss World where again she won and also she is the second female to win the Miss World competition after Julia Kourotchkina in the year 1992 showing the biggest ever smiles for the happiness. Her educational background is pretty good being studying in the Tyumen University of Oil and Gas and had the plans to continue her studies after the contest even if she wins as she has done.
Not only this, the list goes so long as she had also come third in the Swimsuit competition.

A Sad Moment
Unfortunately, Ksenia could not make up to the Miss Universe title in the year 2008 as she was busy with her college studies and thus, as a substitute, Vera Krasova went in place coming out to be the third runner up in the competition.
